Facing a glut of backstop prospects, Stockholm unloaded catching prospect Jose Trujillo to Marietta for outfielder John Chartrand.
While neither player is likely to reach the major leagues for at least two seasons, it helps fill needs for both franchise’s minor league systems.
“We like Chartrand as a future leadoff type, and hope he forms an outfield trio with Lawson and McCree for the next generation of our league,” Stockholm spokeswoman Gudrun Schyman said. “He’ll start the year at AA-level Vällingby, but we hope to see him in Södermalm by the end of the season.”

Real quick: Stockholm acquired one of the four starting pitchers it hopes to fill out its rotation from Pittsburgh today.
Coming to snowy Sweden is one-time Slugger Larry Casler and short-season A OF Arturo Torres. Heading to grimy Pittsburgh is rookie-league MR Bobby Farr.
Stockholm is still looking for pitching.

As of right now, I have one starter (Pellerin) and a bunch of guys in AAA who hope to fill spots 2-5 in my rotation for 2008.
I’m looking to deal some prospects and/or draft picks for some inexpensive inning-eaters. An ace would be nice, but I’m not going to overpay for one. I just need some guys with more than 1 star pitching for me.

I’m looking to move 1B Albert Ramer for some pitching help. He’s a solid 3-star/.800 OPS player and makes a reasonable salary for the next few seasons.
Let me know if he could help your team.

The 2007 World Champion Stockholm Sluggers are proud to announce a trade with the 2005 World champion New York Knights. In exchange for AAA starter Robert Mahone, the Sluggers will receive two outfielders, veteran Karl Brooks, and rookie leaguer Wilmer Abrahamsen.
“Brooks will be in the mix for the major league team in 2007,” Stockholm spokesperson Gudrun Schyman announced. “Wilmer is part of our plan to have all of the Swedes in the game under our umbrella.”
With the departure of Stockholm outfielder stalwart Mark Peters to impending free agency, the Sluggers needed another bat, and Brooks may be that man. While batting lead-off for AAA Brooklyn last season, he put up a .333/.423/.500 line (923 OPS), with 18 steals in 19 attempts. Abrahamsen batted .400/.400/.450 line (850 OPS) in limited rookie league action.

The 2006 World Champion Stockholm Sluggers have announced the acquisition of veteran reliever Edward Adams from division rivals Maryland, team spokeswoman Gudrun Schyman announced today.
Rumored to be on the trading block for hours, Stockholm snapped up Adams, who will be joining Lyman Grimm, Timothy Williams, and a host of other strong arms in the Stockholm bullpen. Coming to Sweden with Adams is prospect starter Bill Delvalle, who will be assigned to AAA Södermalm.
In return for the two, Stockholm gave up 2B prospect Thad Nix, AAA starter Tom Ambler, and a 2nd round pick in next season’s draft.

The team’s name describes it all.
(That’s all. Look for 94 wins, the Platonic League championship, and then winning the World Series in 6 games.)

Stockholm Sluggers spokeswoman Gudrun Schyman hastily assembled a press conference this morning at the team’s spring home in Lidingö, Sweden, to announce the team’s new name.
“Effective the end of the 2006 season, we will be known as the ‘2006 World Champion Stockholm Sluggers,’” Schyman explained, as a banner with the team’s familiar three crowned logo and “2006 World Champions” in the background.
“We hope members of the media and other teams around the league will honor our request and call us by our new name.”
T-shirts proclaiming the team’s new name are currently being designed, and will be on sale at H&M stores around the world upon the conclusion of the 2006 season.

Word on the streets and in the tunnelbanor of Stockholm is that star shortstop Ben “Sugar” Towell is being discussed in trade rumors.
“Yes,” GM Michael Weintraub stated. “At least two teams have come calling for Ben.”
The team’s recent trade of OF Joseph Watson has led some to suggest that a firesale is in the works, but Weintraub denies that.
“No, of course not. We dealt Joseph to clear salary, and because we had a capable replacement with Horace Lawson. Ben is a star on the team and we’d need to be blown away by an offer to consider dealing him.”
Weintraub continued: “Yes, shortstop George Mullikin has lit it up in Södermalm and could probably step in for Ben. But, we think he needs more AAA time. He might make the team as a backup, to get experience. I just don’t think he’s ready to be a full-time starter on a competing team.”
When asked what parts of the team could be improved in a hypothetical trade, Weintraub was quick to state, “We could use a top starter to join Holte and Pate in the rotation, as well as some prospects. Money is always nice, too. Hey, does anyone want a crappy overpaid starter?”
Teams interested in inquiring about Towell are urged to e-mail Weintraub ASAP.

Europe’s best baseball team, the Stockholm Sluggers, have traded OF Joseph Watson to the Miami Masters of Their Domain after an embarrassing incident at the groundbreaking of the team’s new state-of-the-art stadium.
In the media room at Ikea Field in downtown Stockholm, Sluggers spokeswoman Gudrun Schyman announced the trade. Reporters were forced to stand in the press room, as the stadium’s new poäng chairs were not yet put together.
“We have traded Joseph Watson to Miami. Perhaps there he can learn to be a master of his own domain,” Ms Schyman stated. Rumors around Stockholm are that Watson decided to christen the new ballpark, solo, in the umpire’s room behind home plate. He was caught by a horrified ballgirl, and when invited to “help out,” she ran from the room and reported the incident to her superior.
“While we recognize Joseph’s contribution to this team’s playoff run last year, we feel we can save valuable kronor and use young stud Hiram Lawson in the outfield.”
Lawson took the centerfielder’s job from him in the playoff series against Pittsburgh and slugged two home runs in the seven game series.
In return for Watson, Stockholm receives Miami’s 1st round draft choice in 2005, AAA OF Domingo Gonzales and major league reliever Zacharia “Zorro” Chavez.
